The Circle Game….

Here is getting a poem in *just* under the wire. There is this cycle,
 This carnival,
 This wheel
In life -
In families -
In careers -
In home and hearth -
And you never
 *Really*
Know where you are,
 On that
Merry-go-round
 Brilliant and shining,
 You never know.
 Not until you
 -Look Back -
And you just go...
DAMN

Spring Time Catch Up

This feels like a bit of a cheat, and I suppose it actually is.  I was DETERMINED to write a poem a day in April.  I started off OK, but then this weekend happened.  This weekend when I should have had plenty of time to write and instead I found Every. Minute. Full. From Quilting … Continue reading Spring Time Catch Up

World Cup

Today.  At 5:00 pm California time, the US Women's soccer team will have a friendly match against Belgium.  You are probably thinking, yeah.  What's the big deal?  Well the big deal is, that at half-time the '99 Women's team that won the World Cup will be honored.  How cool is that?  Nearly every player from … Continue reading World Cup

Rosebud Sheets

It is April 5, fifth day of my Poem A Day personal challenge.  I was completely uninspired until I saw this prompt - Laundry and I went straight back to my childhood summers at my grandmother's house in New Mexico.  Summers where she hung clothes to dry in the plentiful sun - there is nothing, … Continue reading Rosebud Sheets

Fierce Kitty: A Poem

Poem 2 for a Poem a day in April!     A spring rain
Falls suddenly,
Swiftly.
Kitty and I are drenched.
We seek a warm corner,
I with tea
And kitty
Wary for danger.
My fierce kitty
Chases her tail.
She sees it
Out of the corner
Of her eye.
She watches.
And waits.
Such a patient kitty.
So so slowly,
And carefully,
Articulating each movement,
She prepares to
POUNCE!
For … Continue reading Fierce Kitty: A Poem

A Poem a Day, a Day too Late

I VOWED I was going to write a poem absolutely ever day in April!  I did it last year and had so much fun!  Of course yesterday slipped by and I forgot.  The upside is, I *did* remember today.... So... here you go, a Poem A Day, A Day Late.   It is the simple … Continue reading A Poem a Day, a Day too Late

Partly Paisley

I saw this prompt and it made me think of my mother.  It was the sixties and she was dressed to go to a party and  as I watched her get ready, I thought she was so beautiful. I am little
 And the world is
 Full of
Wonder.
 Wonder like a
Velvet Jacket,
Partly Paisley.
A … Continue reading Partly Paisley

Framed

The days are getting longer! They have been sunny and beautiful, what an auspicious start  to springtime in Alaska! I do not have to leave my porch light on when I go to work, I take the dog for her walk and get home in time for the last bit of sun.  And these cold, clear … Continue reading Framed

Cheesy Goodness

Right now I am eating a grilled cheese sandwich.  In the morning.  At school. On Friday.  Friday is grilled cheese for breakfast day. For adults.  For kids.  For anyone who is hungry.  Kids get off the bus, grab a sandwich and eat the cheesy goodness then go out to play. Other days it is oatmeal.  … Continue reading Cheesy Goodness

That Could Have Been My Life

I watched the most adorable video of a mamma moose and her two calves playing on a lawn in Anchorage.  The grass was green, green, green and there were mature shrubs and trees.  The calves were frolicking, running in circles through a sprinkler and around and around their mamma. It is funny the things that … Continue reading That Could Have Been My Life
