Today…. per the word of the day… I shall “crank” out another poem!
ANYWAY…. Yesterday we went for a walk around the lake. My husband started to get a bit frustrated (LOL) as I stopped to look at the flora and fauna. Up close. I smelled it, ran my hands over it looked at how the light hit everything. I was able to use it all in a few poems however!
We took a walk In the sun On a Spring day Circling the lake Pausing to smell To touch To listen The sun warm On our faces The forest floor, Long dormant Under ice Warmed The scent, Rich and earthy.
The moss On the trees, Where the sun Never shines Was dry Feathery The bark warm I put my cheek Against it. The squirrels Chittered Chastised us. Rivers Rushed and roared Breezes brushed Rustled branches.
I am renewed Because We stopped to smell To touch To listen
We took a walk
In the sun
On a Spring day
Circling the lake
Pausing to smell
To touch
To listen
The sun warm
On our faces
The forest floor,
Long dormant
Under ice
Warmed
The scent,
Rich and earthy.
The moss
On the trees,
Where the sun
Never shines
Was dry
Feathery
The bark warm
I put my cheek
Against it.
The squirrels
Chittered
Chastised us.
Rivers
Rushed and roared
Breezes brushed
Rustled branches.
I am renewed
Because
We stopped to smell
To touch
To listen
